When your child arrives there will be a sign on the front door that looks like this:

This sign indicates that Ms. Ali is ready to receive students and the school is open! No need to knock on the door just come on in.
Head right down the stairs and open the door to the basement.

You will walk right into our classroom.
To the left we have our circle time and to the right is where we do free/imaginitive play.
This bulletin board is where I put up our monthly theme and we get to add a little fun to our classroom.
In the circle time area we do calendar (days of the week, months of the year and counting) and we also dress our weather bear according to the weather. At this time we also introduce the new letter of the week and celebrate any birthdays.
To the left of that we have our little area where the kids hang their backpacks. We don't do cubbys so if something is too wet/big/ messy to fit in their backpack they may just carry it out when its time to go home.
We also have a reading nook (which is the kids favorite space).
While Miss Ali is preparing the snack, the children get 5 minutes to read a book quietly or do a puzzle while we have a transition period.
In our free play area we have a play kitchen with play food, dolls blankets and a cradle.
We also have a giant toy shelf (not pictured) that contains different buckets the children may choose from. Those buckets have puppets, blocks, puzzles, minature people, marble chute, animals, dress ups, etc.
At the end of each day we do a little outside play time. We always go out to the park which is right outside our back gates. Parents pick up at the park. Or, if the weather does not permit, we will be in the classroom doing some large motor skill games!
